Privacy Policy
The short version: Rootsie collects absolutely nothing about you. The longer version is below — but it doesn’t say much more than that.

Who we are
Rootsie is a home-maintenance app that helps you keep track of chores, repairs, and seasonal tasks across the properties you own. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it’s handled, and what choices you have. It applies to the Rootsie iOS app and the rootsie-app website.
Information we collect
None. Rootsie does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or otherwise process any personal information about you. We have no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising identifiers, no crash reporting that leaves your device, and no third-party SDKs that do any of those things on our behalf.
We do not have user accounts. We have never asked you for an email address, a name, or a phone number, and we don’t intend to. We do not track you across other apps or websites owned by other companies.
For Apple’s App Store privacy disclosures, the app falls under the “Data Not Collected” category.
Where your data lives
Everything you create in Rootsie — your properties, tasks, contractors, costs, completion history, photos you attach — is stored on your device. Rootsie is a local-first app. None of that information ever leaves your phone unless you choose to back it up through your operating system’s standard backup tools (such as iCloud Backup), in which case it’s governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not ours.
You can delete any item, or all of your data, at any time by removing it inside the app or by deleting the app from your device. When you delete the app, the data goes with it.
In-app purchases
Rootsie is free to download. The app offers a single optional one-time in-app purchase that unlocks additional features. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see, receive, or store your payment card, billing address, Apple ID, or any other financial information.
When you make a purchase, your device receives a receipt from Apple that we use locally — on your device only — to confirm the purchase and unlock the corresponding features. The purchase itself, including refunds and family sharing, is handled by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. If you need to restore a previous purchase on a new device, the app will ask Apple to verify it; that exchange happens between your device and Apple, not us.
Permissions the app may request
Rootsie may ask for permission to:
- Send notifications— so we can remind you about upcoming or overdue tasks. Notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. We don’t see them, and they don’t pass through any server we operate.
- Access your photo library or camera — only if you choose to attach a photo to a task or property. Photos you attach stay on your device.
Each of these permissions is optional. You can grant or revoke them at any time from iOS Settings, and the app will continue to work without them (minus the specific feature each permission enables).
Third parties
Rootsie does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking services. The only third party involved in your use of the app is Apple, who distributes the app through the App Store and handles in-app purchases. Apple’s handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policy.
Your rights
Because Rootsie does not collect personal information, there is no account to access, no data set we maintain about you, and nothing for us to export, correct, or delete on your behalf. You retain full control of the data inside the app — you can edit or delete any of it directly from your device at any time.
If you live somewhere with privacy laws that grant you specific rights (the EU/UK’s GDPR, California’s CCPA/CPRA, and similar regimes), those rights still apply — they simply don’t require any action on our part because we don’t hold any of your personal data to begin with.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Rootsie handles your data, we’ll update this page and revise the “last updated” date at the top. If we ever start collecting anything, we will tell you in plain language exactly what and why before it happens.
